FGN claries on arms seized

Following the arrest of ‘ss sgt’ of FGN Chisakhoyi Keyho s/o Vechotseiyi Keyho by the police personnel Phek at Police Check gate along with one of his accomplice on October 15 last while they were returning to town in one vehicle after extorting cash and goods from the commuters between Losami Junction and Lanye Check gate, the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) authority came out with a clarification in regard to the media report published today in some local dailies. 

According to FGN official sources, the authority never authorized its arrest cadre to carry out such drive under whatsoever circumstances besides; the seized arms belonging to FGN which include LMG, SLR and US Carbine were never used for the extortion purpose by its arrest cadre. 

The seized arms were recovered by the police personnel by raiding the house of its two cadres on two different locations who never involved in such incident thereof. Stating ss capt Suyieveto as one the two arrested extortionists’ accomplice was wrongly publicized as Suyieveto on fateful day of the incident was busy with paddy harvesting at his field.

The FGN official, on learning the information of such ongoing activities, the 15th Battalion Commander of FGN while on its way out to nab the culprit, they culprits were arrested by the police personnel. 

Talking to this the Morung Express a high ranking official from the FGN stated that the 15th Bn as part eliminating such activists carried out a search operation on several occasions and added that on two occasions the arrested culprits were handed over to the police for necessary action. However, expressing its utter dismay of being operating its cadres houses for the second time without any prior information despite having ceasefire from among them, the FGN official appeal to the Superintendent of Police, Phek to carry out an amicable settlement in regard to the seized arms for the larger interest of the general public.

While expressing its regret over the involvement of its cadres, the authority condemned the act of its cadre and his accomplice and sought the public tolerance in this regard.
