Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): The NNC/FGN while clarifying the whole episode which had befell upon Ameto Awomi on August 15, stated that the GBs and Councils of Yangzitong villagers are putting false allegation against the “Federal Army” by making the innocent public to believe that Ameto was captured and kept in the custody for more than two months “which is purely baseless and fraudulent, because Ameto was shot to dead on that very day when he tried to escape while interrogation was going on.”
The “Federal Army” in a press statement issued by FGN, Sumi Region, Regional Secretary Betto Yeptho stated that Lt. Shitovi along with one Alto car was caught on August 10, 2010 by one Kughato and his accomplice who were mere public and tortured him mercilessly with the strong support from village elders and handed over to the police on August 11 without the knowledge of the Federal Government. The Naga Army therefore questions, whether Ameto was authorized by the GBs and elders of Yangzitong villagers to abscond with his service arms and to collect taxes in the name of Federal Government.
Further, the Naga Army demands the culprits involved in kidnapping the Naga Army personal and the safe release of Lt. Shitovi along with the car to the Federal Government before August 25, 2010. The Naga Army further questions the Yanzitong village elders to handover the postmortem autopsy to the Federal Army in order to prove whether Ameto was tortured and murder after two months.
