FGN impeaches Brig (Retd) S Singnya

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) announced today that Brigadier (Retd) S. Singnya, who held the office of Kedahge (President) of the Naga National Council/Federal Government of Nagaland (NNC/FGN), has been impeached following an emergency session of the Tatar Hoho.

The session, held at Dimapur, addressed allegations against Singnya, citing his advanced age and subsequent "senility and incompetence," a press release from the  FGN stated. The declaration from the Tatar Hoho further claimed that Singnya "lacks integrity as his decisions tend to lean on vested interests, putting individual interest before national interest."

The most severe charge brought against Singnya was “treason,” with the FGN accusing him of "colluding with enemy forces and individuals with vested interests to divide and weaken the NNC/FGN." Following deliberations, the Emergency Tatar Hoho initiated impeachment proceedings under Article 22 and Article 28 of the Yehzabo of Nagaland.

The Tatar Hoho found Singnya guilty of all charges and, in a unanimous vote, removed him from his position as Kedahge with immediate effect. "The Emergency Tatar Hoho on finding him guilty of the charges/allegations against him unanimously voted for the impeachment of Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya," the declaration read.

As outlined in Article 29 of the Yehzabo, the Kedallo will assume the role of Acting Kedahge until a fresh election is held to appoint a new leader.
