FGN issues clarification on ‘welcoming’ cadres

DIMAPUR, APRIL 30 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has issued a statement with regard to a press release published on April 20 regarding the FGN welcoming cadres. A press release from Vepozo Chuzho, Rali Wali, Kilonser, NNC/FGN said that it is necessary to “record a clarification concerning the credibility and authenticity of such reports, which appear to involve certain drifters from Thupuneyi Rhakho group joining Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya Group, with self-attested ranks without any legitimate authority.”

“It is deeply regrettable that certain individuals, taking advantage of the prevailing Naga political situation, are bringing the image of national service to its lowest ebb. These individuals… who have overnight assumed titles such as Midan Peyu, Brigadier, Major and so on, demonstrate neither allegiance nor principles, but are instead driven by personal gain,” the FGN said.

It stated that the “phenomenon of individuals assuming ranks without due process, authorization, or accountability reflects a complete absence of allegiance, principle, and organizational integrity.” It stated that the “reputation of the Chakhesang Region national workers—long distinguished by their loyalty, discipline, and unwavering commitment—has been unfairly tarnished by such misleading representations.” The legacy and credibility built through years of sacrifice must not be diluted by the actions of a few opportunistic elements, it added.

The press release further expresses disapproval of the manner in which “such unverified claims are being hurriedly entertained in the medias.” “The indiscriminate publication of such reports in the media, without proper verification, not only creates confusion among the public but also exposes the concerned organizations to unnecessary ridicule, thereby undermining their credibility,” it said.

It cautioned all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to exercise due diligence and responsibility before acknowledging, endorsing, or disseminating any such claims. “Verification of identity, rank, and service record must be treated as essential prerequisites to prevent the proliferation of misinformation and to safeguard the integrity of the national movement,” it said.

It further advised that, “for the sake of mere publicity or short-term attention, no organization should entertain or accommodate such individuals whose actions only serve to discredit the collective cause.”
