Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The “confession” of Dr. Rev. Tuisem Shishak on behalf of his community as published on July 24 in the local media is appreciable by every Naga, the FGN says. However, the FGN has queried on certain points in the “confession” as stated in a response from “Gen” Lhipelo, FGN.
It is “necessary” to “admit one’s own mistake and confess for the same as we all are Christians and follow the doctrine of Christ” Lhipelo acknowledged. However, he opined that such a confession would be meaningless if the NSCN-IM does not repent and give up ‘wrongdoing or committing sins.” It would be meaningful for all Naga people if (NSCN-IM general secretary) Th. Muivah declares to stop killing Nagas and “he relinquishes the NSCN once and for all because (he) set up the so-called NSCN and started to kill his own Naga brothers since 1980 in the interest of federal relationship with India.” Muivah shows no signs to admitting his mistakes, rather he asserts time and again that Nagas should confess their ‘sins” the FGN stated.
According to “Gen” Lhipelo, the NNC never treated the Tangkhul community as “non-Nagas” and put them to suffering. He stated that in fact the “Naga armies’ were operating in and around Tangkhul region so as to mobilize the community as “requested” by commanders like Z Ramyo Tangkhul, “Lt. Col” Jacob Tangkhul etc. “Gen” Lhipelo had even toured Tangkhul villages with “Lt. Col” Jacob, the note stated adding that no innocent members of the community were killed or tortured.
In the light of this matter, the FGN note Rev. Tuisem Shishak’s statement that “innocent Tangkhuls also suffered in the hands of the old NNC,” as a “silly mistake and an insult to his own people and the Nagas in general.”
The FGN queried what Rev. Shishak meant by “the old NNC.” The note claimed that if Nagas want to ‘forgive’ the community, it would be done so at “reasonable time.” Further, the note stated, Rev. Shishak saying that Nagas had given the mandate to the NSCN-IM is “a lie.” The FGN asserted that mandate was given to the NNC through a plebiscite in 1951.
