Dimapur, August 15 (MExN): The FGN (Singnya) has observed its “66th Naga independence day” observed in Noklak. A press release from the FGN received here today said the function was attended by all the leaders of the group as well as members of the public.
In his message during the function “brig (retd)” S Singnya asserted that the “Nagas” declared freedom from India and that the people were never a part of the Indian nation. “Naga movement for freedom is a historical and political rights movement which no force on earth can subdue,” stated the note from “killo kilonser” Zaleo, quoting the FGN president’s speech.
Quoting the words of Martin Luther King Jr, the note said, the FGN leader stressed that “our past and present must lead our nation to a future that is secure, prestigious and honorable.” To this end, Singnya stated, “While learning and coping to forgive and be forgiven by the different Naga political groups we need to see that no new channels of hatred and animosity that would land us in more troubled waters crop up.”
We are not asking for things that does not belong to us but only defending our freedom which does not come forth from outside but from within the heart of each and every Naga to be a free people and a nation,” the FGN president was quoted as having stated during the function. Stating that the FGN would continue to work for the Naga reconciliation process guided by the Forum for Naga reconciliation, the FGN president urged all to renew their spirit, commitment and dedication to the “service of the nation.”
The meeting concluded with a mass prayer, the press release added.
