Kohima, January 29 (MExN): The five-day Film Appreciation Course organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at the DIPR Conference hall, Kohima on January 29.
Addressing at the inaugural programme, Joint Director IPR, Asangla Imsong, stated that this course is the last of the series of trainings conducted as part of the Azadika Amrit Mahotsav. She thanked the FTII for offering the trainings free of cost to the scheduled tribes of Nagaland to inculcate the culture of films among the people. Films are a powerful medium transcending all boundaries and the course is being conducted, not only to appreciate movies but also to get an idea of what goes into the making of the movies and the craftsmanship behind the magic that is created on the silver screen, she added.
Course Director, Prof Niyaz Mujawaris a National Film Award- Winning Filmmaker and a Cinema graduate of the prestigious FTII, Pune. He was the Director of the feature Film “Tajmal”, which was the winner of the 67th National Film Award, Best Film on National Integration, 2019, and winner of Best Film at Indic Film Festival 2021.
He said that movies are not just for entertainment but something that enlightens the people. He also stated that during the course of the workshop, various genres of films touching upon several themes- about how life could be treasured and how life could be transformed will be showcased.
