The 2nd Nagaland Film Festival 2019 under theme “Celebrating films from North East India” got underway here today at Capital Convention Centre.

Information & Public Relations (IPR), State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and Village Guards advisor Toshi Wuntung appreciated the coming together of the prominent and uprising filmmakers from different parts of the north eastern states to the festival.

He was hopeful that such platform will push the film industry forward and connect north east to mainland and outside world.
Delivering short speech, Vikramjit Roy, Head- FFO, NFDC, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India, assured that the ministry is always ready to assist the filmmakers of the region in term of script writing workshop, master class and other skill development related programmes.

Later, he advocated the need to have film cell and film policy in Nagaland.

Film Association of Nagaland (FAN) president Kivini Shohe said that cinema is a medium that helps “us translate these difficult concepts into simple manifestations of moving images for all people to watch, connect with, think about and enjoy.”
She said this film festival is a means of making this medium of art a bridge for gaps that exist in the North East region to understand each other and lay ground for peaceful coexistence.

Held under the aegis of Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), in association with Film Association of Nagaland (FAN), the festival will go on till November 1.
