Mokokchung, April 27 (MExN): With an aim to make the Moatsü festival more momentous, the Sungratsü Students' Union (SSU) is organizing Moatsü Carnival at the Sungratsü Sports Complex, Yimchalu, where different activities for all age-groups will be held from 1:00 pm on May 2, 2016.
Moatsü is the premier festival of the Ao community and it is celebrated with much fun and gaiety every year.
The Moatsü Carnival at Yimchalu - located some ten kilometers away from Mokokchung Town - will feature an array of activities with an aim to provide some entertainment to the youths, informed a press release from Adang Jamir, Convenor, Organizing Committee, SSU Moatsü Carnival. The main Moatsü programme will be held at Sungratsü village, where Chief Minister TR Zeliang is scheduled to be the chief guest. The Moatsü Carnival will kick start right after the main programme; a nominal entry free of Rs 50 will be collected from the visitors, the Carnival Convenor said.
Among the many activities, the Organizing Committee will hold some activities which will be the first of its kind in Mokokchung, according to the release. One of the main attractions will be drive in movie theatre where the latest blockbuster Hollywood movies like The Jungle Book and Superman Vs Batman - Dawn of Justice will be screened on giant LCD screens on high definition for the movie buffs. Besides, for those who want to have a little adventure, there will also be a paintball game competition where anyone can register and compete against opposing teams, the release said.
There will also be a concert in the evening where popular local bands will take to the stage to rock the night. Among the many bands lined up for the evening are Tsüza & Friends, Highland Oracle (Dimapur), and Kids from The School of Music. Besides, there will be many other artists who will take the stage to entertain the audience.
The Carnival will also have different stalls at the venue which will exhibit and sell traditional items and cuisines. In the food stalls, there will be the famed Sungratsü 'anishi' dish for those who want to enjoy the original Sungratsü anishi, besides many other food items including continental.
The Organizing Committee of the carnival has extended invitation to all the citizens of Mokokchung Town and the tourists during the Moatsü festival to come and be part of the carnival.
