Final location survey of Imphal-Moreh Railway line sanctioned

Guwahati, January 5 (MExN): The Ministry of Railways has accorded sanction for the final location survey of the Imphal–Moreh section covering about 111 Kilometre for construction of a new BG line connecting India and Myanmar, an official release said. 

Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw ordered the survey for new line up to Moreh after inspection of railway projects during his visit to Imphal on January 5, it said. 

This new line once constructed will be of strategic importance and will form an important part of the proposed Trans-Asian Railway which will connect India with South East Asia on rail network, added the release from Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer.
