DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): The NPF Legislature Party led by its leader TR Zeliang today met Governor, RN Ravi at Raj Bhawan, Kohima and discussed on a wide range of issues including the Naga Political issue.
While impressing upon the Governor that all Naga Groups should be taken on board before arriving at a final solution, the NPF party in a press communiqué stated that the group led by Adino should also be invited for dialogues. No armed-group should be left out of the final agreement in order to secure the future of the Nagas, the Party members stated before the Governor.
Also expressing its concern on inking of the final solution which should not become a cause for dissent within the Nagas, the party stated that the final solution should not be a repetition of 16 Point Agreement or Shillong Accord which failed to bring about permanent peace.
The party extended its full cooperation in hammering out an early solution even as the opposition leader Zeliang reiterated the stand of the NPF Party to include the Naga Flag and Constitution in the final agreement. No piece meal agreement should be accepted by GoI, the party had stated.
Throwing light on how certain subjects under Article-371(A) were misinterpreted in the past, the NPF party pointed out some loopholes while maintaining that the Article should be strengthened and that more clauses should be added to remove the ambiguity that remains in the Article. The party added that the Nagas cannot fully utilise the said Article because it is interpreted to the disadvantage of the Nagas by the GoI and its courts of law which practically makes the Article redundant.
Even as he assured to explore all means for an honourable and amicable solution to the decades old vexed issue, Governor RN Ravi was hopeful that the Naga issue would be expedited and a historic solution soon would be witnessed soon, the press communiqué stated. He was positive in taking up the issues highlighted by the party and committed that the interest and well being of the Nagas would be safeguarded.
