
Kohima, March 28 (MExN): The Nagaland Finance Department on Tuesday clarified that the budget deficit for the financial year 2023-24 is Rs 40 crore and not Rs 1374.17 crore as published by some local dailies. According to a press release issued through the state DIPR, Rs 1374.17 crore is the accumulated deficit. It further stated that the accumulated deficit has been reduced from Rs 2212.74 crore to Rs1334.17 crore due to the releases of CSS backlog and Civil Deposits during 2022-23. This represents a huge reduction of deficit by Rs 878.57 crore, it added.
