Financial literacy camp conducted

Phek, March 23 (MExN): North East Network (NEN) with Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NSCB) and NABARD organised a financial literacy camp at Oasis Resource Centre, Sekrezu in Phek district on March 22.  

N Limathung Yanthan, Asst Branch Manager, NSCB Chozuba, who was the resource person, spoke on the importance of having bank accounts especially with the government’s move for cashless transaction. He encouraged the women to be part of self help groups and explained the procedures of forming such groups, a press release informed.  

Participants were also informed about various facilities in the banks and encouraged to avail them. The resource person further informed that all financial benefits of the MGNREGA and others will be directly credited to individual’s account. He also shared on the Joint Liability Group (JLG) formations and clarified queries related to KCC loans.  

Altogether, 46 women from Dzulhami, Thürütsüswümi, Ruzazho, Phughi, Khutsa, Suthozu, Nagwu villages and Sekrezu Town attended the camp.  

Earlier, the significance of the programme was highlighted by Dolly Wotsa, Programme Associates, North East Network. Vote of thanks was delivered by Khronyilo-u Chirhah, Phek district SEWA field mobilizer.  

NEN works with women farmers, street vendors and weavers of Phek, Kohima and Dimapur districts in facilitating women’s access to their rights and entitlements.
