Financial Literacy Camp at Longpayimsen held

Mokokchung, November 23 (MExN): To promote the cause of financial literacy and inclusion, a one day Financial Literacy Camp (FLC) supported under FIF managed by NABARD was conducted at Longpayimsen Village on November 23 organized by Care and Support Society, Mokokchung in collaboration with State Bank of India, Tsurangkong Branch, Mokokchung sponsored by NABARD.    

During the programme, S. Amarjit Mangang, DDM, NABARD shared the role played by NABARD in financial inclusion. He informed the villagers about the importance of saving and saving habits and ways and means to cut down unnecessary expenditure. He advised the farmers to go for scientific method of cultivation/ farming and integrated farming practices so as to increase their income. He briefly highlighted Farmers Club, SHG/JLG, WCC & KCC Programme, PMMY and Stand-Up India Scheme.  

Moasunup Imchen, Branch Manager, State Bank of India, Tsurangkong, Mokokchung shared the importance of banking, savings, financial planning. He shared various financial services offered by the banks for the general public. He further highlighted PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY in details. He further shared the gathering about the current demonetization going in the country.  

Cautioning the public about unscrupulous people, he further advised the people not to entertain people who try to evade Tax by trying to park their Cash in the Accounts, which is equal to abetting the tax evaders and is punishable by law.  

A press release said that the programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director, Care and Support Society. Invocation prayer was pronounced by N. Maken Deacon, Longpayimsen Baptist Church. Welcome address was addressed by B. Sashi Aier, Chairman Longpayimsen Village Council.
