
Kohima, March 25 (MExN): A financial literacy camp was organised at Mima Village Panchayat Hall on March 24 by Nagaland State Social Welfare Board (NSSWB), NMDFC, SRCW and PSK in collaboration with NABARD and financial institutes supported under Financial Implication Forum (FIF).
Women from the village and active SHG member representatives attended the camp.
Kennei Angu, Agriculture Officer, Vijaya Bank, Kohima shared on the importance of having a bank account and the various benefits linked with it including the insurance policies on health, accident etc. Farmers through proper channel, Angu stated, can avail loan from the bank for agriculture machineries.
Angela from Vijaya Bank, Kohima shared on the activity as business correspondent. She mentioned that business correspondents are bank representatives who help villagers to open bank accounts and also help them in banking transactions like deposit, savings account, loans etc. She further encouraged the SHG representatives present to maintain proper documents so that they can seek support from the bank.
Asalie A. Kruse, Project Manager, NSSWB emphasized on the importance of digital payment and adopting cashless banking processes which will save time, energy, money and most importantly ensure transparency while availing scholarship, insurance, pension benefits and other schemes. He further introduced the Joint Liability Group (JLG) which is a concept under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to provide institutional credit to small farmers. He briefed about JLG features and the necessaary requirement to form a Group and avail loan from the bank.
Vekhwüsalü Dawhuo, Supervisor- Women Helpline, NSSWB chaired the programme and gave a brief introduction on the purpose of conducting the financial literacy camp. Keduokhonuo Belho of Women Helpline/181, NSSWB shared on Women Helpline 181, One Stop Centre and Childine-1098. Temjen from Greenway, a company which deals in Biomass Stove, introduced and shared the benefits of using the stove to the participants.
