Financial Literacy Prog held at Kidima Village

Kidima, April 10 (MExN): Financial Literacy Programme was held on March 29 at Kidima Village for the women organised by the Nagaland State Social Welfare Board SCA of NMDFC, SRCW under Financial Literacy Camp Programme supported under FIF NABARD.  

Resource person from Vijaya Bank, Kenei Angu, Agricultural Officer shared the significance of banking.  She shared some of the benefits of saving and encouraged the participants to maintain a good relationship with the banks to avail various benefits from agriculture loan to various insurance policies. Agricultural practice as one among the major occupation in our State a person having a good bond with the bank can reap the benefits of the schemes offered by the banks from purchasing seeds to agriculture equipments and machineries, she quoted.  She also said that better access to credit for farmers will help them gain sustainable incomes and invest in their assets as well. Kenei also encouraged the participants especially to the Farmers to take Agriculture Insurance to protect against any misfortune in future which will in return safeguard their investments.  

The interactive session was taken over by Asalie A. kruse, Project Manager, NSSWB. He also talks about the cashless digital transaction that has been started after the demonetization. He said with the introduction of the digital payment we will no longer need to carry heavy cash or queue up for ATM withdrawals also maintaining our budget as it will keep track of our spending. Through paytm we can also pay the exact amount without worrying about getting back the change from the shopkeepers as even a rupee matters. Asalie also introduced the Joint Liability Group to the villagers, a concept under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to provide institutional credit to small farmers. He briefs about the JLG the features and the necessary requirement to form a Group and avail loan from the bank.
