
Wokha, October 28 (MExN): In a move to fight against the ‘drug menace within Wokha village jurisdiction and Wokha town area,’ the Wokha Village Council has unanimously adopted resolutions to strictly adhere for the future of action which were deliberated seriously during its meeting held on October 23.
In a press release issued through the DIPR, it stated that the house resolved to strictly ban the stocking or selling of any contraband drug by the Wokha village members which are banned by the Government or any legal organisation within the village jurisdiction or outside the village area.
The house also resolved to strictly ban the stocking or selling of any contraband drug by any individuals/person within the Wokha village demarcated areas of Wokha town which are banned by the Government or any legal organisation within the village jurisdiction or outside the village area.
The council resolved that ‘if any village member is found guilty of such said acts, he/she will be penalised with affine of Rs 50,000 and consequently an FIR will be lodged against the culprit to the nearest Police Station.’
“The house also resolved to expel the culprit from the village for a period of five years with immediate effect,” it stated.
Meanwhile, the house appreciated the initiative taken up by the District Administration/Law Enforcing Agency (Police department)/Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Lotha Youth Organisation and churches and other NGOs etc, for their tireless efforts to stop the drug menace and “the decision for non-bailable stance against culprits”.
