Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): As part of its awareness campaign on conservation of wildlife and environment covering 50 colleges and schools in Dimapur, Fingerprint- Design & Events visited The Global Open University Nagaland and Public College of Commerce on March 2.
In a press release, Hongba Phom, Head, Fingerprint - Design & Events, expressed sadness to see endangered wildlife being killed in all parts of Nagaland. “It is even sadder to know that we do not even have tranquilizers and a cage mounted vehicle to carry animals in emergencies,” he said referring to the recent killing of a female Royal Bengal Tiger. “Human life is not less precious than the endangered tiger or any other wildlife and we all regret the recent unfortunate incident…”
Phom further stressed that the “unfortunate regular appearances of dangerous and endangered wildlife into our homes are not because those animals preferred to socialize and enjoy the city life. But it’s because of the reckless activities of humans that their habitat has been reduced and disturbed for their own survival.”
The disturbance of wildlife habitat, he stated, didn’t just happen overnight but it has happened over the years with reckless human activities.
“It’s becoming impossible now to stop the outcome of what we did over the past years but now we have the opportunity to educate our self and sincerely learn something about conserving wildlife and environment and create a positive outcome for our future,” he added.
The Head of Fingerprint asserted that entire stakeholders - the Government, council, NGOs, student organizations, the public - should fight the good fight for the protection of wildlife and environment.
