A fire broke out at Aonglenden, Ungma village, at around 9 am today, completely destroying one house and causing partial damage to two nearby structures. No casualties have been reported.

The Fire Department was alerted about the blaze at 9:22 am, according to the Officer-in-Charge of the Fire Department, Mokokchung. Fire engines from the Marepkong and Sungkomen Fire Stations were promptly dispatched to the scene, with additional support from Assam Rifles personnel.
Despite the densely packed area, firefighters were able to contain the fire and prevent its spread. While two adjacent houses suffered partial damage, other buildings in the area remained unaffected.
Preliminary estimates of the damage range between Rs 10-15 lakhs, based on verbal reports. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
A villager commended the swift response from both the fire services and the local community, highlighting that their efforts played a crucial role in preventing a larger disaster. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
