A fire broke out in Lijaba Lijen Ward, Mokokchung, in the early hours of Saturday, destroying three semi-RCC houses and partially affecting another. No casualties were reported.
According to fire department officials, they received a distress call at 3:18 am. Two fire tenders each from Fire Station North Mokokchung and South Mokokchung were deployed, with refilling operations carried out. The estimated loss is valued at Rs 1.51 crore.
The cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit, the officials stated.
