Fire razes 45 houses at Chumu

Morung Express News Dimapur | March 11   A total of 45 houses were razed in a fire at Ward 6, Chumukedima on March 11. All bamboo structures, the razed structures included 32 dwellings and 13 shops. As per the Fire & Emergency Services, the fire started around 1:30 am reportedly caused by electrical short circuit. It took firemen from Dimapur and Chumukedima over 3 hours to control the flames with atleast 7 fire trucks pressed into service. The fire was finally brought under control at around 4:00 am. There was no report of any casualty.   Meanwhile, a press release informed that Parliamentary Secretary, Irrigation and Flood Control, Jacob Zhimomi visited the affected families today. He was stated to have assured relief at the earliest, while students affected by the fire were also assured assistance. He also called for safety measures at home to prevent occurrence of fire.
