Five families were rendered homeless by a fire in Dimapur on September 22. The victims were all tenants of a block of bamboo houses located in Kevijau colony. According to a resident of the colony, the fire started at around 4:30-4:40 am, and quickly spread to the adjacent houses while setting off LPG cylinders. The Fire & Emergency Services responded quickly but by the time the flames were controlled, everything it in its vicinity was razed. Atleast two fire tenders were pressed into action. 

There was no report of any human casualty. The property damage was estimated at around Rs 30 lakhs, among which included cash and musical instruments.
