A warehouse, located in Burma Camp near NH 29, Dimapur was completely gutted in a fire on January 25. The fire, cause of which was still to be ascertained, started around 11:00 am engulfing the entire warehouse and two shops in the vicinity.
Timely intervention of the Fire & Emergency Services prevented the flames from spreading to nearby residential houses. However traffic jam on the highway and onlookers parking their vehicles on the streets leading to the incident site delayed fire trucks from reaching quicker.
The Fire personnel with 6 trucks took around 25-30 minutes to control the flames from spreading. It took a little over an hour to completely douse the flames.
The razed warehouse contained aluminum and plastic items, which were all damaged. The Fire Brigade, Dimapur, estimated the property damaged at around 25-30 lakhs but added it could be more if the assessment of the employees of the razed establishment were to be considered.
