Fire Service Week from April 14 to 20

Kohima, April 2 (MExN): Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services will observe ‘Fire Service Week’ from April 14 to 20.   Every year, April 14 is observed as ‘Martyrs Day’ to pay homage to those brave fire personnel who lost their precious lives while performing their duty, said a press release from DIG (F&ES) Nagaland. The day is set aside for mass awareness campaign on fire hazards & safety measures.

“Fire always starts as incipient stage. Therefore, safety should be given serious consideration otherwise a catastrophic fire breaks out and takes its toll. One should take precautionary measures and see that it does not become a catastrophe. The negligence of one often leads to sufferings of several,” the release stressed.

Quoting the old saying, “Prevention is better than cure,” it stated that fire prevention is better than fire fighting. “Let us consider the usual causes of fire on how to eliminate or to minimize the risk involved.”

In this light, the DIG for the interest of the general public has highlighted fire exigencies for information, safety, and compliance (See table).
