After receiving complaints on several occasions from various quarters on the negligence of the Wokha District Hospital by M.S and his supporting staff manning the Hospital, the Town Commander, Naga Army, Wokha Town and his team paid a surprise visit on 20st May 2013 at 8.30 PM and was shocked to see the Emergency duty room locked. There was no light, Doctor, nurses on emergency duty when there were 7-8 patients admitted, where 1(one) patient had undergone surgery on 20th May’13. The pathetic condition of the patients laying helplessly without the presence of the hospital staff who had been detailed for duty speaks volumes about the failure of the administrators in the Hospital. The lack-a-dais cal attitude of the staff playing with the life of human does not auger well and may invite public outcry if the same pattern of negligence persist when they are to provide 24X7 services.
Moreover, it was quite disheartening to know and see the pathetic conditions of the only premier Government Hospital in the district without X-Ray machine(non-functional), Ultra-sound machine, CT scan machine etc. The failure of power had been another factor in giving life saving services and as such, an alternative like generator had to be installed at the earliest. These basic requirements need to be addressed at the earliest if the responsible authorities in the Department are concerned for the general well being of Lotha Nagas in particular.
Henceforth, the undersigned requests the authority concerned to take corrective measures at the earliest and caution to strictly monitor the function of the only District Hospital specially for giving timely medical service to the rural folks who could hardly manage or afford. The authority concerned is also requested to further detail all the Doctors and specialty Doctors to attend the patients (OPD) regularly every day instead of the present system or self-style routine(Weekly or 15 days rotational duty among the Doctors) as revealed by some reliable sources.
N. Lotha
Town Commander,
Naga Army
