He also said that despite the fact that the competition is very stiff and only few succeed, the numbers of aspirants do not diminish at all and that even in Nagaland, the number of students appearing for NPSC and other competitive exams are continuously increasing. “It is true that Civil Services remain to be the most coveted in our country,” he said.

He also commented on the mushrooming of Civil Services coaching institutes, opining that such institutes has become lucrative ventures for many. However, he noted that there are such coaching centres which have proved the sceptics wrong by continuously evolving, adapting to the challenges of the changes in the pattern and syllabi of the exams and has helped propel the aspirants to their cherished goal.

On the inaugural of the NICSE Dimapur Centre, he stated that the institute is being anticipated by many throughout Nagaland State and the expectation is relay high. He therefore urged the administrators of the NICSE, Dimapur Centre which is founded upon a principle to deliver national standard in training and live up to its bill. “I sincerely hope and believe that, this institute would be able to cater the needs of the students with conviction and uncompromising efficiency and invaluably prove beneficial to those sincere aspirants,” he concluded.

President of Nagaland Colleges Principals Forum, Dr. P.S. Lorin, in his speech said that NICSE is a new premiere institute to serve the people of NE states and train aspiring students to appear civil services exams, and in order to help the Institute achieve its mission, producing good quality students should be prioritized by schools and colleges. He spoke on the education scenario and gave a brief account of higher education in Nagaland and said, “All colleges have not been assessed by UGC thereby leaving just some few like NU, ICFAI, Global Open University, Tetso College, Patkai Christian College, Fazl Ali College which have been given A and B grade and are in par with the colleges of the country. Quality of education has also been skewed due to non-assessment.” There are 57 colleges out of which 15 are government schools in Nagaland while states like Meghalaya have 194 colleges out of which 3 are government schools. As of the government’s involvement, Dr Lorin said, “The budget for school funding by the state government has been the lowest among the 24 states of India with 49 percent. It will be an injustice to the younger generations if investments are not made for providing proper education to them and this issue should take priority seat in the policy making of the government.” He acclaimed that NICSE by delivering high and standard coaching; it will play an important role towards moulding students into public servants and top bureaucrats.

NICSE Academic Head also shared that about 95-99% of students shift back to home base after failing to secure in the NPSE and UPSC exams, and go through emotional, physical and financial hardships. He also opined that the number of aspirants for government job is way beyond to that of other states.

He said that preparations for Civil service exams are equally tough, and much different than normal Universities or Colleges. He stated that the institute’s vision is to develop in a manner where Dimapur becomes a hub for civil service exams in the future and wipe out destinations like Delhi where people throng to such studies. He informed that the institute offers state of the art infrastructure and well-structured curriculum, and acknowledged all those who have contributed for the success of the institute’s opening in such a short and stipulated amount of time.  The Directors and staff were present at the inaugural ceremony.
