Mon, December 22 (MExN): The first public library in Tizit town, stocking over 800 books available for free rental, was officially opened to the public.
Located in the heart of Tizit in Mon district, the ‘EPN Library’ was established by local resident Pongba Konyak. The collection spans fiction, non-fiction, elementary readers, competitive exam preparation guides, and Christian literature.
Konyak said the initiative was driven by the observed lack of reading materials for local youth. The library was built using his personal savings and contributions from friends and family, “with the aim of promoting reading habits among young people.”
Beyond book lending, the facility will offer free coaching for underprivileged students and career guidance for graduates preparing for competitive exams, he added.
Konyak expressed plans to expand the library and welcomed donations of both new and old books.
