First public Wi-Fi under PM-WANI for Nagaland-Manipur states launched

Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The first public Wi-Fi under the Prime Minister Wireless Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) was launched for Nagaland-Manipur states at Dimapur on July 27.

The facility has been installed at Pro Rural office at the OK Complex, Near City Tower. The launching programme was graced by the Dy Director General of the Telecom Department (Nagaland), Government of India, Brijesh Prajapati, along with BSNL General Managers, JB Chavan (Nagaland), Kaptan Singh (Manipur) and Marak, Director, Department of Telecom. 

The launching event was attended by representatives of NGOs, Student Organizations, entrepreneurs, and private telephone companies.

The Pentacle Systems Pvt. Ltd. (PSPL), a Guwahati based ISO certified reputed Company, established in 2001, is a DOT registered and C-DOT powered PDOA and APP Provider. PSPL is the pioneer aggregator in North East and only App Provider within the region. PSPL has signed an agreement with PRO RURAL, a North East based reputed NGO for awareness, promotion and establishment of PDO networks in rural, semi urban and urban areas of Nagaland and Manipur.

Speaking on the occasion, Brijesh Prajapati, Dy DG, said that the government is committed remove the digital divide and facilitate the entrepreneurs, businesses and students who may need to work on online solutions to their student career and in their job-search as well. The officials of the BSNL also shared on the vast infrastructure build up by the BSNL and their franchisees in the state and the PM-WANI Wi-Fi can collaborate in different aspects to enhance the reach of the telecom connectivity in the states.  

Earlier, welcoming the guests and dignitaries, Paul Lokho, CEO of Pro Rural shared that Pro Rural’s mission of empowering youth and women with digital literacy, skills of entrepreneurship and building livelihood would be enhanced with the PM-WANI Wi-Fi system.
