
MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon takes oath as pro-tem speaker
DIMAPUR, MARCH 9 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland has summoned the First Session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on March 13 from 9:30 a.m. onwards at the Assembly Hall, Kohima. This was informed in a press release issued by N. Benjamin Newmai, Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
Correspondingly, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee was held on March 9 in the Assembly Committee Room under the chairmanship of Mmhonlumo Kikon, speaker pro-tem, NLA and finalized the provisional programme for the ensuing First Session of the 13th NLA.
According to a press release issued by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the Committee decided to hold the session from March 13 to 26. During the session, the following business would be taken up- Oath/affirmation by members, election of speaker, proving of majority, if any, address by Governor, obituary references, if any, moving of motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, laying of reports/rules, if any, presentation of supplementary demand for grants for the year 2017-18, presentation of budget for 2018-19, laying of statement of fiscal responsibility and budget management act, presentation of C&AG report, debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, announcement of constitution of various financial and non financial committees by the speaker and announcement of panel of chairman.
Meanwhile, the Governor fixed March 12 as the date for filing of nomination papers for the election of the Speaker by the members of the NLA. The date of withdrawal has been fixed from 1pm to 4 pm of March 12 itself. The date of election is on March 13.
MLA Mmhonlumo Kikon, who has been appointed as the pro-tem speaker, took oath of the office on March 9. Governor of Nagaland, P.B. Acharya administered the oath at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.
