Dimapur, Oct 8 (MExN): The Ward 2 of Dimapur Town Council held a felicitation for the new elected GB’s. Khekaho DMC member said that it was a red letter day, because this is the first time a woman has been elected as a GB. Achila Ao had been appointed as the Head GB of the Ward 2 (DMC). She said, “I did not expect that I would be in this position today. I’ am honored and I only pray that God will guide and give me wisdom”. It may be mentioned that after the demise of the previous two GBs the ward had approached the DMC for new appointees. After a duration of four months the DMC consented by electing Achila Ao and Shitovi Sema as GBs of Ward 2, Dimapur.
“This is in fact a manifestation of women empowerment”, said Khekaho. Further, it was stated that Achila was the most capable and responsible social worker in the ward, and so the decision of her being elected was unanimous.
