DMC staff and advisor P. Heno with seized containers and fish with the defaulters at DMC office, Monday.
Dimapur, April 18 (MExN): The Rate Control staff of Dimapur Municipal Council today conducted surprise checking at fish market in New Market and detected nine fish stalls duping customers with improvised container used for weighing fish such as magur, singi etc.
Fish sellers were using metal containers fitted with additional metal plates at the bottom of the containers thereby increasing the weight of the tin which adds to the actual weight of the fish. The actual weight of the tin container should about 250 gms whereas the improvised container weighs more than 500 gms.
Containers were seized by the DMC and fine imposed on the defaulter with a strong warning to cancel their trade license in the next offence.
This act of cheating the public was detected soon after the revision of rates of fish under jurisdiction of DMC. Checking was conducted basing on complain received from public.
Advisors incharge of DMC Market Rate Control Er. Vikholie Nienu and P. Heno stated such act of cheating by fish traders is a daylight robbery being committed on innocent public which was never detected before. The advisors appealed to the public to be vigilant and to insist on using proper container and also to report such anomalies of the traders to DMC office.
