DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 3 (MExN): The Angami, Ao, Sümi, Rengma and Lotha students’ unions today issued a joint press statement resolving to “outrightly object” to the 45% reservation demand of the ENSF.
The statement from the students’ unions said that “after a lapse of 43 years when reservation should be gradually decreased by now and much earlier, what can be more unreasonable is the demand for its increase.” “We see no possible progression of our people with such detrimental implementation,” the press release said.
It added that the Core Committee on Rationalisation of Reservation Policy (CCoRoRP) expects the government to settle the matter with “rationale sensibility based on logical reasoning.” It cautioned that if the government succumbs to “such unreasonably absurd demands, we shall leave no stone unturned to defend our society from such a self defeating move by resorting to all forms of democratic protests.
The statement was appended by N Ejanthung Ngullie, Convener, CCoRoRP; Zakie Khate, Secretary, CCoRoRP; Vizokho Zashumo, ASU President; Nungdokyanger Ao, AKM President; Heiko Kent, RSU President; Hotoshe Kits; SKK President; and Ashanthung Humtsoe, LSU President.
