Five top GST taxpayers of Nagaland under Central GST administration were felicitated during the GST day in Dimapur on July 1.

Dimapur, July 1 (MExN): To mark the completion of five years since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was introduced in India, the Central GST Commissionerate, Dimapur observed GST Day at Saramati Hotel on July 1. 

During the programme, some of the top GST taxpayers of Nagaland under Central GST administration were felicitated. Appreciation certificates were presented by the Principal Commissioner to five taxpayers who figure among the top GST taxpayers of Nagaland under Central GST administration. 

This included M/s Chabou & Co; M/s Vilelie Khamo & Sons; M/s Nithin Sai Constructions; M/s Nili Motors; and M/s Methlow Konyak. They were appreciated for their timely filing of Returns and payment of tax liabilities and in acknowledgement of their contribution to nation building. 

Addressing the occasion, a press release stated here that Principal Commissioner, K Ashi Khieya, IRS mentioned, ‘going by the trend of revenue collection for Nagaland, there is huge scope for continuous growth.’ 

At present there are 10,579 registered GST taxpayers in Nagaland which are administered by both Centre and State GST authorities. The total GST revenue collected for the state in FY 2020-21 was Rs.386 Cr while for FY 2021-22 was Rs 416 Cr which was an increase of around 8%. 

He said that ‘for every rupee in the government coffer, 58 paisa comes from taxes, out of which GST revenue contributes 16 paisa for every rupee.’ 

“We may be lagging behind others in some ways but we also have a large pool of educated youth who are creative, innovative and impatient and we must channelize this vibrant force in the right direction for a rapid development of our economy. But to bring this about we need to ensure a peaceful environment and create an investor friendly atmosphere,” he observed. 

The event was also attended by representatives from various trade and commerce associations including Business Association of Nagas, Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Young Indians the youth wing of Confederation of Indian Industry, Nagaland.
