
Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) in collaboration with District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) organized a flash mob on Anti Tobacco Awareness at Dimapur Railway station, with an objective to spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco.
NEISSR in a press release stated that during the flash mob on April 24, Dr Fr C P Anto, Principal of NEISSR addressed the gathering and stated that “Gratitude is the best attitude which will take to altitude”. According to the survey conducted by GATS, around 57% of Naga population is consumers of Tobacco products. He also said that the enforcing authority of the Government in collaboration with other organizations may work together to make Nagaland a Tobacco Free State. He added that tobacco is a very serious social and health issue, and we need to stand together to fight against this menace before it kills our children and youth.
He invited the people to take a pledge for anti-tobacco and mentioned that this pledge will go on and awareness will not only reach the people of Dimapur, but it will reach to Northeast and National level so that the use of tobacco can be brought down drastically, and the health of the poor and everyone will be taken care. He urged that Government should control the Tobacco market and help the citizens to live longer and work for sustainable development.
He concluded by expressing gratitude to District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Ajay Das, Railway Station Master, R.K Patton O.C, SHALOM T.V Channel, and Social Work Students for their tireless effort to put the event a grand success.
The participants were given outlets on tobacco ill effects and Dr. Fr. C.P Anto urged the citizens of Dimapur to prevent the usage of tobacco and enhance life.
