The Flower show-cum-Exhibition and Competition organised by the Dimapur District Floricultural Association at the Urban Haat concluded on November 10. It was organised in collaboration with the Nagaland Flower Growers Society and co-sponsored by the Department of Horticulture.
According to the organisers, for a first-time event, public response was quite satisfactory. The association’s Information & Publicity incharge Watila Longkumer said it witnessed over 30 floriculturists from Dimapur, Wokha and Kohima.
“The sales were not as much as we expected but the curiosity generated was encouraging,” said Longkumer, while adding, “We had clients dropping in from Assam and Meghalaya.”
While there were 36 different stalls, there were 20 participants, who competed in various categories.
Special invitee Dr. Asangla Jamir, a retired lecturer and an enthusiast, described how flowers and plants besides its aesthetic appeal could have therapeutic effects as well.
