Kohima, April 10 (DIPR): A three day flower exhibition cum competition is being organised by the Nagaland Flower Growers Society in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture at the Heritage (Old DC’s Bungalow), Kohima from April 11 to 13.Participants from Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung and Phek districts are taking part in the exhibition cum competition. The different categories of the competition are as follows: (a) Ferns and Foliage (b) Cacti and Succulents (c) Indigenous Foliage and flowers (d) Bulbs and Tubers (e) Orchids (Indigenous) (f) Orchids (hybrid) (g) Bonsai (h) Perennial (i) Annuals and Biennials (j) Flower arrangements (Fresh) (k) Flower arrangement (Dry) The exhibits will be judged on the basis of number, size, quality of blooms, pots, planting medium etc. Cash awards in each of the 11 categories will be as follows: 1. 1st prize - Rs. 10,000/- 2. 2nd prize - Rs. 7,000/- 3. 3rd prize - Rs. 5,000/- 4. Consolation - Rs. 1,000/- Cash award for the best stalls are: 1. 1st prize - Rs. 1,00,000/- 2. 2nd prize - Rs. 70,000/- 3. 3rd prize - Rs. 50,000/- 4. Consolation - Rs. 30,000/- Selection of prize winning exhibits will be done by a panel of expert judges on April 11 and the results and prizes distribution will be declared on April 13. Fresh cut flowers, tools and implements, manures, flower seeds, plants etc will also be available for sale. The inaugural function will be held on April 11 at 10:00 AM. The chief guest for the programme will be Secretary Horticulture, Alan Gonmei IAS. Fresh flower arrangement competition for high school level will also be held after the inauguration.
