Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has expressed deep sadness and hurt over recent developments among the Naga people.
In a statement, the FNR said what has transpired is wholly unbecoming and no rationalization can justify it. “There are no conditions—no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’ that can quench the anger or desire for retaliation.
The reality must be acknowledged, and time must be given to work through it with honesty and discipline,” the forum said.
While cautioning against “responses that come disguised as confessions but are mixed with self-defense, partial repentance, or even veiled revenge” the forum stated that ‘such impulses, if left unchecked, will only prolong harm and erode our collective future.’
“The danger lies not only in the events themselves but in the uncontrolled emotions that threaten to destroy us from within,” it added.
In this context, the FNR said the decisive “will” of the public, guided by leaders who are thoughtful and visionary, is urgently required. It called upon the Naga people to listen to the voice of God rather than surrender to immediate emotions that can destroy what lies ahead.
“The task before us is not to indulge in bitterness but to exercise moral clarity, communal responsibility, and disciplined restraint. Only then can healing remain credible and our future remain intact,” the forum stated.
The FNR urged that this Holy Week bring change, adding, “In all urgency let this Holy Week change us to celebrate this Easter Sunday in peace and hope!”
