
Kohima, October 17 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture observed the World Food Day 2018 on October 16 at the Directorate Conference Hall with the theme “Our Actions are Our Future: A Zero Hunger World by 2030 is Possible.” The programme was chaired by S Kivikhu Achumi, Joint Director.
L Butang Khiamniungan, Addl Director in his speech emphasized on rural poverty from scarcity to excess in Food in our society while also highlighting on how the World Food Day was started by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The speaker said that “one should think globally act locally for the Farmers in the state”. While urging the officers and staff present not to waste Food, he asks them to “remember the farmers who undergo all the hardship for the produces reaching our table.”
The speaker also shared his 35 years experiences on Farming System and encourages the Department Officers and staff to work harder in order to achieve the Department Vision “Food for All by 2025.” The programme concluded with the Chairman’s remark, a press release from the Department of Agriculture informed.
