KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 26 (MExN): In view of the advent Hornbill festival and the festive season, Food Safety Officials will be inspecting hotels, restaurants, etc. in and around Kohima town. Informing this in a press release, Designated Officer of Food Safety Administration, Kohima Zone directed the Food Business Operators (FBOs) to carry out good hygienic practices and good manufacturing practices. The officials will also be verifying the FBO documents such as food safety license/registration certificate, medical fitness certificate, water report etc. It referenced Section 31 of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Regulations 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 of 2.1 Food Safety and Standards (Licensing & Registration of Food Business) which states that all FBOs has to be registered or licensed under the Food Safety Act & Regulations. FBOs operating without the registration certificate/license is an offence and punishable under the Act.
