Dimapur, October 28 (MExN): A team comprising of Designated Officer of Food Safety, Food Safety Officer, Administration and Chümoukedima Town Council inspected manufacturing units in Chümoukedima town. The drive was mainly to create awareness to the Food Business Operators (FBO) with the onset of festive season. As per a press release from Samuel Zehol, Designated Officer of Food Safety, Office of the CMO, Dimapur, the inspection was conducted to inform them not to use newspaper for wrapping and placing of finished food products on it, to educate and inform the FBOs to maintain personal hygienic as well as the premises.

Improvement Notice was served to the food manufacturing units falling under the stated jurisdiction for necessary compliance under the Food Safety & Standards Regulation, 2011.

The release informed that other food manufacturing units in and around Dimapur will also be inspected, and therefore FBOs were informed to keep their premises in good hygienic conditions.

The team also requested consumers to check the labels while purchasing food products. In case of any complaint, the consumer may approach food safety officials in the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur.
