Mokokchung, June 15 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Chuchuyimlang Block, Mokokchung launched Sonan Food Security Group (FSG) at Yaongyimti New village on June 14.
In a keynote address, T. Mayang, AO and BTT Convener encouraged the newly formed women’s food security group to take up the training as an opportunity and to be sincere in their activities, a press release informed.
Resource person Chubaienla Jamir, Assistant Technology Manager apprised the 10-member group of mostly middle aged women, on the purpose of their group formation, and the role it plays in attaining food security. She encouraged the women farmers to take up kitchen gardening to become self-sustained for themselves and their family, the release added.
Thereafter, a training on ‘post-harvest management of horticultural crops’ was given, where all the group members participated in making jams, pickles, tapioca chips and ginger candy. To further encourage the farmers, seed money was given to the newly formed FSG.
