‘Foothill Road should not be compromised’

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 13 (MExN): A consultative meeting, consisting of Lotha Gazzetted Officers’ Association, Kohima Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lower Lotha Public Organization, Kohima and the 40 Bhandari A/C MLA, Mmhonlumo, under the aegis of Kohima Lotha Hoho has “unanimously resolved” that “under no circumstances should the smooth construction of the Foothill road be compromised.”

A press note from the Kohima Lotha Hoho Chairman, Nchumbemo Tungoe and General Secretary, Thunglamo Ovung informed that the meeting was held on February 12 at Kohima. It further appreciated the concern raised by the Wokha District Class-1 contractors’ Union and hoped that their grievances would be addressed suitably, as assured by the area MLA.

The press note stated that the meeting took “strong exception to the deplorable statement demanding for temporary suspension and re-alignment of the FHR construction work made by the unauthorized Kyong Hoho, since threadbare deliberations and decisions had been made well in advance involving all stakeholders.”
It added that the land owners had even agreed to free usage of their land for the road. Therefore, in the larger interest of the Nagas, the meeting appealed for the Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) and the State Government “not to be perturbed by such irresponsible statements.”
