Dimapur | March 12
According to NPF legislator, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, the Nagaland state government is committed to turning the foothills road into reality. Replying to media queries, on the sideline of a function on March 12, Nienu claimed that the government earmarking Rs 148.5 cr for the foothills road testifies the alleged commitment.
He however remarked that the amount will not suffice as covering the entire project will require a few thousand crores, at least. “I believe the government is trying to get more funds (in addition to what’s been allocated),” he said.
On the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) demanding the Government of India making good on the latter’s Frontier Naga Territory pledge, Nienu wished for the best. He said that the ENPO settled for an arrangement within the state of Nagaland in the interest of the Naga political issue. According to him, separating into two states would imply the death of the Naga political issue. “And so, I think they also know that… they will not separate because they don’t want the Naga political issue to die. We have a dream to fulfill together,” he said.
