Footnote Channel launched in Kohima

The Footnote Channel was formally launched by Music Task Force (MTF) advisor Theja Meru at D’Café in the presence of MTF project director Dr Hovithal Sothu and several other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Meru said that the MTF under the visionary leadership of Chief minister Neiphiu Rio is vigorously working to frame a master plan and comprehensive strategy to promote and push the music industry forward in Nagaland.

He said the MTF wanted to take music industry to the next level and to the world. He urged the music lovers to dream big and “work smart" to excel in the field of music.

Stating that hard work alone is not enough, he said that one has to “work smart” to figure in the best of the best list.
Metet Jamir also performed during the launching ceremony.

Footnote Channel founder Morotsung Longchar  who along with other three friends (Artong, Oyimbong and Lima Imsong) came out with Footnote Channel, said “Me and my friends, we were always passionate about music and we would usually spend hours discussing about music in general and also about the music industry in Nagaland.”

He said that they came up with the idea of having a channel where they can give a platform to Naga musicians to showcase their talents and give them a helping hand by providing free audio and video recording.

He said that Footnote Channel aims to promote young fresh and upcoming artists and showcase their talents for the entire world to see. 

“We will provide artists and musicians with free audio and video recording and will feature them in our channel and help them gain an audience,” Longchar said, adding that its bigger goal is to make music an industry here in Nagaland wherein musicians and artists can sustain their livelihood through music. 

We want to promote professionalism among musicians, we want to encourage a culture wherein musicians start writing and recording their own original work, he said.

He said the main goal of Footnote Channel is to help the music industry here in Nagaland grow and flourish.

He maintained that Naga musicians and artists and their talents are the most marketable commodity in Nagaland right now and stressed on the need to give the right training and guidance to earn a big name in the music industry.

With proper infrastructure, the right spirit and discipline Naga musicians will undoubtedly be second to none. We the footnote team truly believe it is wise to invest in our Naga talent when it comes to music, he said.

Stating that  Footnote Channel belongs to the whole of Nagaland and all its people, it requested everyone to support them by subscribing, by sharing, by viewing and help them reach out with their content to as many people as possible.
