Phek, May 26 (DIPR): An awareness programme cum distribution of community assets was organized by Phek Forest Division for village communities and JFMCs under Phek district. In the programme plastic chairs were distributed to 4 Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMC) under EPA component of FDA programme.
The beneficiary villages of the EPA component were Chosaba, Tehepu, Kutsapo and Sohomi. During the programme DFO Phek Rongsenlemla Imchen appreciated the community for cooperating with the department and also highlighted on the importance of filling up the critical gaps by proper maintenance of the community assets (Plastic chairs) with regard to conserving and protecting the forest.
ACF Phek Enyiweikha Wezah, who chaired the programme, exhorted the gathering to maintain the FDA plantation for sustainable forest management and also sought maintenance of the EPA component as a community asset. Village Council Chairman Kutsapo Zashevezo who spoke on behalf of the local functionaries, appreciated the forest department for their initiative and efforts in conservation of forests and also assured that they will strictly abide their respective village forest resolution.
Altogether the division has distributed plastic chairs to 15 villages under the EPA component during the current year. The programme was attended by DFO Phek, ACF Phek, forest staffs, JFMC's, Village Councils and local functionaries.
