Forest dept brings development to Apoji Village

Call to church to partner with forest department towards safe forest and environment

  Tuensang, March 1 (MExN): A waiting shed was inaugurated on February 28 by the Divisional Forest Officer Tuensang Dr. Sentitula, IFS under FDA 2015-16 at Apoji Village under Sitap Range.  

The programme was well attended by village elders, womenfolk and school children of the village. Chairing the programme, Buchang, Village Council Chairman of Apoji village highlighted that their Village was established in 2005 and was recognized by the government in 2012.  

He also categorically mentioned that till date no government department has ever visited and no development activity been ever carried out in their village. The chairman expressed gratitude to the forest department for bringing continual blessing to the villagers.  

He said that forest department distributed solar lamp to all the households in the village when there was no electricity connection and now the most basic amenities and long felt need to have a community waiting shed for the villagers to hold meetings and for resting is fulfilled through the kind initiative of the forest department.  

Dr. Sentitula IFS, DFO Tuensang, chief guest for the occasion gave a very practical definition on the word development. She emphatically said, “The real and true development begins the moment one realizes the need for change.” She said that pro-activeness and cooperation by the villagers lay the path for development. Calling and challenging the villagers for active participation and initiatives, she said blessing always comes with responsibility and as Christian everyone is called to be faithful stewards. A special call was extended to the church to partner with forest department towards safe forest and environment.  

Rajesh ACF in his speech encouraged the villagers to work in coordination to protect the forest and wildlife Ailong, Ranger in his speech also mentioned the forwardness of the villagers by devoting their time and energy and selflessly working for the community.
