Kohima, September 26 (MExN): The State Silviculturist, Department of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Nagaland organised a capacity building programme on forest fire prevention management for frontline staff at Conference Hall of Forest Office Complex Kohima on September 25.
Conservator of Forests, Dr. Kenei Miachieo, IFS in the key note address said that the conservator stressed on the need to have a direct line of communication between the villages and the department especially the frontline staffs. He mentioned that one has to take advantage of the technology available to us at this age of information technology for uninterrupted flow of information both ways for early detection, prevention and suppression of forest fires.
RO Silviculture Range, Mokokchung, Shilutemjen gave the welcome address while RO Silviculture Range, Kohima, Mato Koso proposed the vote of thanks. The resource persons for the technical session were, State Silviculturist, Lhinghoikim Touthang IFS on the topic “Forest Fire Prevention Management”, DFO Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen IFS on the topic “Forest Fires of Kohima”, Working Plan Officer, Samom Khelen Singh IFS on the topic “Use of technologies for early Fire detection”, Demonstration on fire fighting equipment by Forester I, Sunep and Deputy Ranger Imtimar Walling.
