Forest range office inaugurated at Pughoboto

Pughoboto, July 13 (MExN): The Range office and staff quarters under Pughoboto range was inaugurated by K Hukato Chishi, Conservator of Forests (NTC) on July 13.

The Pughoboto Range under Zunheboto Forest Division is one of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) implementing range under Nagaland Forest Management Project. 

The inauguration was held in the presence of Dr Sentitula, DFO cum DMU Head Zunheboto, H Tokugha Chophy DCF cum Assistant DMU Head Zunheboto, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC Pughoboto, H Kihoto Wotsa Range Officer cum FMU Head Pughoboto and staff.

The programme was chaired by the Range officer Cum DMU head while Ahovi Swu Pastor Pughoboto Town invoked God’s Blessing, followed by inauguration of the Range office.

Dr Sentitula shared that the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) assisted by JICA being implemented in 11 forest divisions of Nagaland, is a 10-year project started during 2017-18.

The project aims to improve forest eco-system and support income generation by rehabilitation of Jhum areas and provision of livelihood support, thereby contributing to sustainable forest and environment conservation and livelihood improvement. She thanked all the stakeholders in helping the department to achieve the targets.

Hokiqhe Sheqi, Chairman Adhoc Town committee thanked the department for considering the people of Pughoboto and covering the Range under NFMP Project and assured of their assistance towards the department in all the activities.

K Hukato Chishi, Conservator of Forests (NTC) encouraged the people to take the opportunity and work towards excellence.

Aloto Wotsa JFMC Chairman shared the progress of work under Mishilimi JFMC and assured that they will achieve the target in totality. This year, till date, 30,000 seedlings under different models have been planted at the project site, he added.

Thungchanbemo Tungoe, ADC Pughoboto congratulated and thanked the Forest department on behalf of Pughoboto people for implementing the project in the sub-division. He encouraged the Range officers/staff and the people to take ownership and maintain the assets that has been created by the government. Concluding remarks were delivered by H Tokugha Chophy DCF cum Assistant DMU Head Zunheboto.
