‘Formal education is not enough’

Commencement Day held at C-Edge College

Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): C-Edge College, Dimapur held the Fourth Commencement Day on March 23 at the college auditorium. Kuholi Chishi, Director of Higher Education, Nagaland was the Commencement Speaker.  

In her speech, she elucidated that formal education is not enough and that one has to develop beyond that. She stressed on the term ‘lifelong learning principle’ and that one should be able to learn as well as to unlearn.  

Earlier, a press release mentioned that the programme started with the procession of the Class of 2018 followed by a special presentation of the Ao Naga ‘ATEM’ performed by Imlimeren Longchar. Er. Moa Aier, President of the college gave the welcome speech and carried out the Pledge of Allegiance for the outgoing students. Dr. Chubatola Aier, Principal, C-Edge College initiated the Yearbook released and the college awards. The Yearbook was released by the Commencement Speaker.  

This year, the college introduced a new award which is the SPEAR award and is given to the students who have attained exceedingly well in the five areas namely Science, Personality, Entertainment, Aesthetic and Rhetoric. The first recipient for the SPEAR AWARD was achieved by Toki Swu of BBA VI Semester. The Principal also declared the winners of the Star Attendance Award, Laurel Award for Merit Students and EVS Ramanathan Award for the Environmental Science subject topper.  

This year Student’s Commencement speakers were David of BBA VI, Imlisunep of BA VI and S. Sorito of BA IV. Daisy Shitio, Academic Dean of the college presided the Reading of the outgoing student’s name. In conclusion, the vote of thanks and closing of the event was conveyed by Wapanginla Ao, Commencement Coordinator.
