The political negotiations between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) will likely resume in October. According to a senior NSCN (IM) leader, the talks will resume once its Collective Leadership led by General Secretary Th Muivah concludes meeting various Naga civil organisations currently underway at its Council Headquarters, Hebron. Since landing in Hebron from New Delhi on August 19 last, Muivah has initiated a series of consultations with several Naga civil organisations. The consultations will wind up by the end of this month with the last meeting scheduled on September 28, tentatively.
"They (New Delhi) have called us (for resumption of talks) after concluding the meetings with the civil society," the leader said.
The last formal talk was held towards the end of July, just a few days before Ravi was inducted as Nagaland Governor on August 1.
He added that two informal sessions involving Ravi have occured since, the first in New Delhi and the second in Dimapur.
The talks would in all likelihood continue unhindered despite the NSCN (IM) writing to the Prime Minister's Office registering its resentment at having to continue negotiating with the GoI's Interlocutor RN Ravi, who is now the Governor of Nagaland state.
The letter was written towards the end of July. Asked whether the PMO has responded, he said that there has been no communication as yet.
"I don't know whether we'll continue with Ravi or they'll appoint another but we have made our stand clear to the PMO (on Ravi's dual role)," he said.
